🌿 When Your Past Makes You Feel Unworthy

🌿 When Your Past Makes You Feel Unworthy

There are things from my past that I wish I could go back and change.

Mistakes I made.
Choices I made.
Things I wish I had done differently.

And even though I have asked God to forgive me, there were times when I still carried the guilt.

I knew God had forgiven me, but sometimes I struggled to forgive myself.

I would think about my past and feel ashamed. I felt like some of the things I had done made me unworthy of God's love, unworthy of the life I have now, and unworthy of being used by Him.

Maybe you've felt that way too.

Maybe you've asked God for forgiveness, but you still find yourself looking back and thinking, “How could God really love me after everything I've done?”

🤍 God Doesn't Love the Sin, But He Still Loves You

I've learned something that changed the way I look at my past.

God doesn't love the sin. But He loves me.

There is a difference.

My mistakes were real. My choices had consequences. And forgiveness doesn't mean that consequences never exist.

Sometimes the things we do leave behind an “ash”—a reminder that something happened and that our choices mattered.

But consequences don't mean that God has rejected you.

They don't mean you're beyond redemption.

They don't mean you're no longer worthy of being loved.

When I asked God for forgiveness, I had to learn to believe that His forgiveness was real.

Not just for everyone else.

For me, too.

🌸 The Guilt Doesn't Get the Final Word

For a long time, guilt made me feel like my past was who I was.

But God began showing me that my past is part of my story, but it doesn't have to be the end of my story.

The things I went through changed me.

They made me stronger spiritually.

They changed the way I think.

They taught me compassion.

They taught me to love people differently.

And they gave me a testimony.

Today, I'm not ashamed to talk about what God brought me through.

Not because I'm proud of the mistakes I made, but because I'm grateful for what God did with the broken pieces.

🌿 What If Your Past Can Help Someone Else?

Sometimes I wonder why I had to go through certain things.

I may never understand every reason.

But I believe God can use even the painful parts of our stories to help someone else.

Maybe someone needs to hear that they aren't too far gone.

Maybe someone needs to know that God can still love them after their mistakes.

Maybe someone needs to hear:

“You can come back to God.”

“You are not your past.”

“Your mistake does not have to be your identity.”

“There is still purpose in your life.”

That's why I'm not ashamed to share my testimony.

Because if God could bring me out of a place filled with guilt, shame, hurt, and darkness, then I know my story can be used to encourage someone else.

🤍 I Am Not Who I Used to Be

When I look at myself today, I don't see the same woman I was back then.

God has changed my heart.

He has made me stronger.

He has taught me to love more.

He has taught me grace.

And I'm still growing.

I'm still learning.

I'm still becoming who He created me to be.

My past is something I went through. It is not who I am.

I don't have to keep punishing myself for something God has already forgiven.

I can remember where I came from without living there.

I can acknowledge my mistakes without allowing shame to control me.

And I can look at my story and say:

“God brought me through.”

🙏 A Simple Prayer

Lord,

Thank You for loving me even when I didn't feel worthy of Your love.

Thank You for forgiving me when I came to You with my mistakes, my regrets, and my past.

Help me stop allowing guilt and shame to define me.

Help me remember that I am not who I used to be.

Take the painful parts of my story and use them for Your purpose.

Help me have compassion for the person I was while continuing to grow into the person You are calling me to become.

And when I look back at my past, help me see not only what I did wrong, but also how far You have brought me.

Thank You for Your grace.

Thank You for Your forgiveness.

And thank You that my story doesn't end with my mistakes.

Amen. 🤍

🌸 Carry This With You

Your past may be part of your story, but it does not have to define your future.

You can regret what you did without living in shame.

You can acknowledge your mistakes without believing you are worthless.

You can remember where you've been while thanking God for where you are now.

God's grace is bigger than your past.

And if He has forgiven you, don't spend the rest of your life refusing to believe that you can be forgiven too.

You are not who you used to be.

You are still growing.
You are still becoming.
And there is still purpose in your story. 🌿
