Selfless, Not Selfish
Sometimes we can become so focused on giving to others that we forget to take care of our own hearts.
We want to love people. We want to help. We want to be there when someone needs us. And those are beautiful things.
But I’m learning that being selfless doesn't mean losing yourself.
We can love others without ignoring the wisdom God gives us. We can give without giving everyone unlimited access to our hearts. We can care for people while still recognizing when we need to step back, rest, or set a boundary.
Being selfless means loving with a willing heart—not allowing ourselves to be continually hurt just because we want to be there for someone.
And sometimes, saying “no,” “not right now,” or “I need to step back” isn't selfish.
Sometimes it's wisdom.
God cares about the people we love, but He also cares about us.
I've learned that I don't have to choose between having a loving heart and protecting my heart. With God's wisdom, I can do both.
I can love without losing myself.
I can give without emptying myself.
I can forgive without removing every boundary.
I can be selfless without forgetting that God cares for me too. 🤍
🙏 A Simple Prayer
Lord,
Teach me to love others with a selfless heart, but also give me wisdom to recognize when I need to step back.
Help me give with love, serve with joy, and care for others without forgetting the heart You've entrusted to me.
Remind me that taking care of myself isn't selfish when I'm doing it with wisdom and in Your guidance.
Amen. 🤍
🌿 Carry This With You
Being selfless doesn't mean losing yourself.
Love others deeply, but let God teach you when to give, when to pause, and when to protect your heart.
With love,
Yolanda 🌸
